The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour Episode 2 Recap – “Is It?”

Sumiko is off on a vacation with friends, so everyone else at the house is free to do what they want. However, no one seems to have any real plans. This episode has almost zero plot, but a ton of funny set pieces, which if that is the way the series goes in, you won’t see me complaining. It was entertaining enough to just watch these characters bounce off of each other, and the jokes are written well enough that they are funny without relying only on boob jokes, though we have some of those too.

Mayumi, the drunken women with no luck with men, is freaking hilarious and I don’t know why. I should hate her character for being a sexist caricature, but surprisingly I don’t!

mayumi why you so amazing!

Instead of ruining the jokes for you, I’ll just provide some out of context screen shots, and some key words like: Bubbles! Boner Alert! “You’re a lousy virgin!” “Was that The Birth of Venus?” “I’m not scared. I’m just sleepy. Very Sleepy.” *hugs pillow to face* “Give your privates a fighting spirit! Actually, just cut them off!” There is a panties punchline that was the only thing that was a negative for me, but otherwise I totally enjoyed this episode.

lol sumiko

We are also introduced to Watanabe Sayaka, the last resident, by the way of boob touchey on Mayumi. I wonder what Sayaka’s quirk will turn out to be, as it isn’t readily obvious yet. So far this is the comedy best of this season for me. At the very least it’s leagues better than The Comic Artist and His Assistants, which wasn’t even good enough for me to cover. (Basically, boob joke, panty joke, boob joke, SEX JOKES ARE THEY FUNNY NAW!?)
